RMC MedStone has acquired a majority interest in Stonegate Surgery Center in Austin.

RMC MedStone, a Dallas-based company that owns surgery centers and specialty hospitals in partnerships with physicians, purchased a controlling interest in Stonegate Surgery for approximately $25 million. The surgery center is located in a 9,100-square-foot building at 2501 W. William Cannon Dr.

The surgery center is undergoing a multi-million dollar expansion, which will include expanding office space, adding two operating rooms, expanding post-surgical treatment areas and improving waiting rooms. The expansion will be done in several phases and is expected to be completed in 2009.

RMC MedStone has secured a line of working capital that will allow it to continue its acquisition strategy, said Chris Matthews, president of Dallas-based real estate company RM Crowe, parent company of RMC MedStone.

“We are looking to acquire medical-related assets throughout the country with a history of performance,” Matthews said. “Stonegate Surgery Center meets that criteria and will continue to be very successful...once the expansion is complete.”
